Argentinian legend and national team manager, Diego Maradona tells audience during a taping of Cronica that he might step down from being the team's manager. 

His unorthodox training methods and weird antics off the pitch has attracted some attention during his reign as manager. His inexperience was found out when Argentina were dumped out by Germany 4-0 from the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2010.

Players and senior officials are calling for Maradona to continue, but the legendary no 10 will have the final say. When asked what he will do next, his answer was "let me enjoy the afternoon with my family".

After star striker, Nicholas Anelka was sent home by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Saturday, the remaining French World Cup 2010 squad decided collectively to boycott training on Sunday. They came down from the team bus to meet and sign autographs of awaiting fans, who waited to watch them train and went back on the bus several minutes later.

Team captain, Patrice Evra was seen giving Domenach a letter stating that the player are not to train as protest against the decision (Anelka expulsion) and will seek explanation on how dressing room events appeared in L'Equipe newspaper.

I am totally supportive of their actions as a group but it brings the question, should they put the country's interest & pride first or be supportive towards their now ex-teammate? It seems that the player's have collectively decided that they are already done with this World Cup. So, in itself it answers the question. Players pride comes first.

Domenach will leave after the current World Cup and will be replaced by Laurent Blanc but what squad will he inherit?He must decide whether to start from scratch and leave the "bad apples" of this current squad and only select fresh and new player for his squad or try to work on what is left of the French squad.

Danish fightback to beat Cameroon

Cameroon are out of the World Cup after losing to the Danes in this FIFA World Cup 2010 Group E match in Pretoria.

The Elephants took the lead through Samuel Eto'o, who was restored to his favoured central role in the 10th minute. This was after some sloppy defending from the Danish defense.

Nicklas Bendtner equalised after some great work down the wings by Dennis Rommedahl in the 33rd minute.

More goals were in the reckoning but not until 61st minute when Rommedahl curled a left foot shot that beat Hamidou Souleymanou. At the end, the Cameroonian's are dumped out of the World Cup and the Danes tied second in the group with Japan.  

10 men Aussies hold Ghanaians

Australia had Harry Kewell sent off in the 20th minute and held on to draw this FIFA World Cup 2010 Group D match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

The Aussies took the lead through Brett Holman who took advantage off a parried shot from Mark Bresciano. The Black Stars restored parity through a Asamoah Gyan penalty in the 25th minute. The penalty was a result of Kewell was adjudged to handle Ayew's shot with his hand on  the goal line.

Both teams surged to find the winning goal and Ghana almost clinched it through Kevin Prince Boateng. At the final whistle, Ghana topping the group, followed by Germany, Serbia and Australia rounding it off.

Sneidjer takes Oranje to next round

Inter Milan and Holland playmaker, Wesley Sneidjer scored the only goal in this FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa Group E match in Durban. Both teams won their opening matches and each wanted to keep a clean record and progress  to the 2nd round.

The first half was nothing less than a cat and mouse affair as both sides were cautious in their approach. After the break, Sneidjer hit a shot from outside the box which moved and confused the Japanese goalkeeper. After the goal, the Japanese started to come out of their shell and played more open.

Their oldest player, Shunsuke Nakamura was also thrown in by Japanese coach, Okada in search of an equaliser. The Japanese approach play was slick and quick but they have no one to finish the good work up to the penalty box.

The Oranje continue their march but the Japanese team will need to win their final match against Denmark in order to progress.

World Cup 2010 Games for Tonight

S. Africa 1 Mexico 1, Hosts draw opening game with Mexicans

The opening game between hosts South Africa and Mexico ended in a stalemate of one goal each.After speeches from both FIFA President and South Africa President to mark the opening of FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010, the match started. The first half was totally dominated by the Mexicans. But South Africa were resolute in their defending. Giovanni Dos Santos and Guillermo Franco were threatening to break loose.

The Africans started the second half by pressing the Central American team and got their reward when Tshabalala broke the deadlock and scored the opening goal of this year's World Cup. He raced on to Mphela's pass and lashed out a stunning strike into the top corner. The Mexican goalkeeper, Perez was unable to stop it.

The South Africans then got another chance 10 minutes later but Teko Modise shot wide. Minutes later Modise again missed another chance to extend the hosts advantage when he shot tamely to Perez.

Those misses came back to bit them when Barcelona player, Rafa Marquez scored the equaliser from close range. Andre Guardado;s cross was wrongly judged by Portsmouth defender, Mokoena and Marquez converted at the far post.

The Vulvuela horns fell silent while the Mexicans rejoice. The game then fell to a see saw with the ball more in the midfield. The South Africans almost grabbed the winner at the death when Mphela's shot bounced from the post.

The Bafana Bafana army surely be awaiting the next match against Uruguay in Pretoria to see the next installment of thier heroes journey.
